I believe crime and sex are big themes throughout the film. Crime is a major theme connected to the infamous Bonnie and Clyde. I believe Bonnie and Clyde turn to crime as a way to connect with the outside world and feel of significance. Clyde wants to be remembered, as he was thrilled that Bonnie wrote a poem about his story and a story that people will forever remember who Bonnie and Clyde are. They both use crime as a way to excite their lives, not necessarily because they’re mean evil people. Both sex and sexual attraction is another crucial theme throughout this film. I believe Bonnie and Clyde were first entangled with each other due to their attraction towards one another. Their sexual attraction and appeal towards one another result in a common passion of breaking the law and having that criminal facade. Bonnie compares to Lisa from Rear Window by their femininity, which comes along with having a spontaneous side to them. They both want something more with their lives and reach for the men in their life to fulfill their empty adventurous urge. Both Clyde and Jeff are found to be attracted to both Bonnie and Lisa due to the brave side they were able to show. Violence and sex overlap one another in this film because due to the violent adventurous side that both Bonnie and Clyde have, their is a sex appeal towards one another. The French New Wave was influenced throughout this film because it was a love story, a crime thriller that included self awareness and fatalistic irony all in one. It is an exhilarating movie that allowed people to see and experience new entertainment throughout this film. I believe Bonnie and Clyde were both gentle young people who just wanted some excitement in their lives… with what started as petty simple crimes which led to murder and ultimately the downfall of the notorious couple that will be remembered and go down in history.
